In this post I will mention some of the best free softphones I have worked, we evaluated a number of issues such as stability, the number of platforms that are available and the ease of installation.
The winner is linphone, but has a very simple interface, provides many features, very stable, and can be installed on any operating system, and I saw him running on iPhone and Android are going pretty well. In linux just install from the repositories and it is working. Hopefully if linphone can be an alternative to Skype.
